My style has developed out of the strong will to become a superhero. Niels “Storm” Robitzky alias Storm, Judge

Tell us more about you, who are you?
„My style has developed out of the strong will to become a superhero.
That´s why the nick name given to me is “Storm”. My artistic approach is
based on displaying lightness in difficulty and communicating the
dancecraft as a magic moment to share.“

So fantastic to have you with us in Zurich for this incredible event, The
Dance, what does it mean to you to be part of it?
„The “Dance” is a great event. Friends and colleagues are coming here from
all over the world. The spectacle has a very high quality. Dance is my
life, so of course I appreciate my participation as a judge getting the
best seats to watch.“

What are you particularely proud of?
„Pride is dangerous. I am happy for a lot of reasons, but to be proud of
something is a pretentious notion that I really try not to develop.“

Is there a cause you are supporting, which one, and why?
„I surely support the healing of the world through holistic thinking.“

When are you the most happy, and why?
Oh, that depends on the moment and present needs. When I am hungry I will
be happy when I get a decent meal, like anybody else. I am especially
happy when I get surprised by incidents when things fall into place. Even
more when it happens at moments one worked for a lot and the goal to reach it
seemed almost out of sight. My son’s laugh makes me happy.

What are your future plans?
I would like to finish the book I´ve been writing since 2007. It is on
dance theory and probably too philosophical. One of the reasons why I am
on and off writing is my disbelief that anybody could really be interested
in reading from the people it is addressed to and that I would like to
help with.

How do you keep fit?
Two smoothies a day. 1st a fruit smothie, 2nd a green one. Then of course
dancing, water and a constant observation of myself and my habits.

And what does dancing mean to you?
It is my therapy. My developing force is a very huge part of my life. I
dance professionally since 1984.

Do you feel free? And if yes, what makes you free?
I feel that the framework that society builds around ties us to a great
extend. It doesn´t bother me too much, since dancing gives me the freedom
to also develop myself.
